How do you stop yourself from falling in love with your bestfriend?

i am like, in the same situation! i've been best friends with this guy for 3 years, and he's 3 years older than me, and 3 grades above me, but like, i know he's super hot, and we actually tried dating for a few days, but we were both like, ehh, not so much. but we're still best friends, and people think we're dating like, all the time, and the only part i hate about not being his girlfriend, is it kills me when he gets a new girlfriend and i just have to fake a smile and listen to everything he says about her. it's sad :( but he's so awesome! but im trying constantly not to fall for him, becuse i just dont wanna ruin the friendship. and im not in 7th grade either. lol.
