How are Harold and Kumar so good with the ladies? What can I learn from them?

I've just finished watching Harold and Kumar escape from Guantanomo Bay. Besides the overall stupidity and laughs it contains. I see some things I can't separate from fiction and reality. Like the relationship and character development. Let's say some guy follows an ex to a different country. It is not going to always be a magical hook-up or anything right? I mean I wish I could just go out there and tell people how I feel, and stuff. But it would probably turn out horribly wrong and just stab me in the face right?
