How did president Nixon change US monetary policy?

Eliminating the Gold Standard officially was his most memorable, and as it has been shown, best economic move in regards to monetary policy. It has been damaging because of the lack of regulation and elimination of existing regulations during the last 30-35 years though. He also put a 90 day freeze on wages and prices to attempt to combat inflation and keep the dollar's value from falling.
