Do i have a chance?? should i give up ?

i have this friend, and he knew i liked him and he admitted that he liked me too, he has been out of a relationship for about 6 months now and he claims he is still not ready to date, however he has alot of female friends and flirts with me too, when he texts me or i text him he calls me " baby mother" he asks me when the next time im gunna be in town to see him and etc. however when i ask about the status of me and him he says he deesnt wanna get into a relationship right now because a relationship consists of giving alot and he wants to be able to put his all into it and he doesnt feel right now that he can . through each break up with my boyfriend and i hes been there always giving me advice and being nothing less than an absolute help, he knows that i would leave my current boyfriend in a heartbeat for him but he wont budge ): what am i doing wrong? does he even like me lke that ? do i have a chance?
